Body Piercing State Law & Regulation
We require any business in the practice of creating an opening in a person's body, other than the earlobe, to insert jewelry or another decoration to license with the Department of State Health Services. This also includes studios that perform implants. An artist may not perform body piercing on a person younger than 18 without the consent of a parent, managing conservator, or guardian and meeting the requirements of 25 Texas Administrative Code, §229.406(d).
-
The adult is present at the studio during the piercing and signs statements swearing they are the parent, managing conservator or guardian; the adult has the authority to consent to the procedure; the adult has provided valid government issued identification of the minor and of themselves to the studio; and the adult will remain at the studio while the procedure is performed. In this case, the adult must also present identification and evidence to the studio they are the parent, managing conservator or guardian.

Saline Solution Buyer's Guide
Sterile Saline Solution is a sterilized sodium chloride solution used to clean debris from a piercing without damaging surrounding healthy tissue. It comes with a fine mist spray actuator to gently cleanse piercings. Wound irrigation is imperative to wound care, because it creates an environment optimal for healing. Using pressurized and sterile saline wound wash is one of the most common cleansing methods used by hospitals, because it’s a non-toxic, isotonic solution. It’s gentle enough to not damage healing tissue, and neither adds nor takes fluid from the wound bed. Furthermore, there are no possible allergies and it does not alter the bacterial flora.
What to look for when buying Sterile Saline Solution:
-
Non-refillable: Not able to be opened/ refilled
-
Pressurized: Solution comes out with enough force to irrigate but not enough to damage
-
Sterile: Free from bacteria or other living micro-organisms
-
Isotonic: 0.9% salt to water ratio, aka “normal saline,” because it’s concentration mimics blood, tears, and other bodily fluids
-
Ingredients: purified water, sterile 0.9% USP NaCl (sodium chloride)
